I was appointed as a Consultant at UHBristol in 2010 following anaesthetic training in Wessex and Bristol. My sub speciality areas are Obstetric anaesthesia and preoperative assessment and I have been Lead Clinician for our Preoperative Assessment Clinic since 2012. I spent three years as a medical SHO and registrar before anaesthesia which has given me a strong background in the assessment and management of patients with acute and chronic conditions and developed my interest in pre-operative assessment. In the future anaesthetists will become peri-operative physicians and I think discussion and management of risk and the newer area of prehabilitation is going to become an increasingly important area for us to develop.
