Dr. BobbieJean Sweitzer completed residency training in internal medicine and anesthesiology. She is a Professor of Anesthesiology and Director of Perioperative Medicine at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois.
She is an author and the editor of Preoperative Assessment and Management (now in a 3rd edition). Dr. Sweitzer has authored over 30 peer-reviewed manuscripts, scores of books chapters lectures and the UpToDate review on preanesthesia evaluation. She lectures nationally and internationally on perioperative medicine topics.
Dr. Sweitzer is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, a founding member of the Governing Board and past President of the Society of Perioperative Assessment and Quality Improvement, on the board of directors of the Society for Ambulatory Anesthesia, and an elected member of the Association of University Anesthesiologists
Dr. Sweitzer is an associate editor of Anesthesiology and the executive editor of A&A Practice.
