Dr Tim Cook

Current appointment
August 1998-present
Consultant in Anaesthesia and intensive Care Medicine
Royal United Hospital, Bath

I work in a district general hospital in Bath, but fortunately one without limited aspirations. I have led two Royal College of Anaesthetists National Audit Projects (NAP3 on central neuraxial block and NAP4 on airway management) that have shone a light on major aspects of anaesthetic practice and changed practice. I am helping out with NAP5 studying Accidental Awareness during General Anaesthesia in UK and Ireland. I have an interest in airway evaluation and have led a number of studies examining such equipment. I have an overall interest in safety and quality improvement using a bottom up approach.

In December 2012 I was honoured to be awarded the Macintosh Professorship of the Royal College of Anaesthetists. I am also very honoured to have previously been awarded the Humphrey Davy Medal by the Royal College of Anaesthetists and the Henry Featherstone Certificate by the Association of Anaesthetists of Great Britain and Ireland.
