Driving

Driving to Ireland from Scotland, England and Wales. You can get a ferry into Belfast, Dublin and Wexford. Crossing times are as short as 1 hour 50 minutes (Irish Ferries, Holyhead/Dublin Port Swift ferry).

Getting from Dublin. The roads in Ireland are constantly improving. Dublin to Kerry is from 3 hours 40 minutes (that's my best time and without speeding!). It is motorway from Dublin to Limerick which is less than 2 hours, then A and B roads to Dingle for the remaining time.

Getting from Wexford. Our recommended route is via Waterford/Cork/Macroom/Killarney/Milltown and follow the signs for Dingle. Again I usually do in under 4 hours on this route and the first half is motorway.

From Cork Airport: on a clear run 2 1/4 hours but allow up to 3 if going for a flight - there are traffic hot spots near the airport and on-going road works along the route which can slow the journey.

Flying

The nearest airport is Kerry Airport, just 30 miles from Dingle. This is serviced with:

  • 2 connecting flights from Dublin Airport with AerLingus (www.aerlingus.com).
  • 1 flight each day from London Stansted and Luton, and Frankfurt Hahn all with RyanAir (www.ryanair.com).

All of these services can be booked on-line through the appropriate airline.

We offer a shuttle service (See 'Airport Transfer' from Kerry Airport to Dingle.

Cork and Shannon airports are both approximately a 2 1/2-3 hour road journey from Dingle but can be more convenient as they offer more direct services from, amongst others, Birmingham, Liverpool and Heathrow. We would recommend Cork as the next choice to Kerry.

Airport Transfer

We have a shuttle service from both CORK (€40 e/w) and KERRY (€20 e/w) AIRPORTS and Dingle. This service is organized by the Conference, not the airport or the hotel.

The Cork service will be available at limited times (to service as many flights as possible without too much waiting time for delegates). The Kerry service is available for all flights but MUST be pre-booked. Please contact us for more information.

To avail of these services please email us no later than 1st October. This service is only guaranteed if you receive a confirmation email.

Car Hire

For anyone wishing to organize their own transport, we use Hertz Car Hire at Kerry Airport (Telephone 00 353 64 34126 or Fax 00 353 66 9763333, Kerry@hertz.ie). Other hire companies are available.

Visa Requirements

If you do not hold an EU Passport PLEASE check visa requirements on the Irish Embassy's website.

Sailing Travel Tips

If travelling from Holyhead and go for one of the early ferries but don't fancy driving in the early hours then Hotel Cymyran is just a few miles from Holyhead port but in a very quiet spot and has a bar and restaurant too.
