Dr Daniel Conway

Daniel Conway qualified in Manchester and after spending time travelling in Asia, embarked on a career as an Anaesthetist with a special interest in Intensive Care. As a registrar, Daniel led a randomized controlled trial of fluid optimization guided by the oesophageal Doppler (ODM) during bowel surgery. This work demonstrated the usefulness of the oesophageal Doppler and was published in Anaesthesia in 2002. Daniel led the National Technology Adoption Centre Project into implementing ODM at Manchester Royal Infirmary. This Quality Improvement work was published in the BMJ and contributed to the NICE guideline (MTG3).

Dr Conway was appointed to a consultant at Central Manchester NHS Foundation Trust in 2001 and has specialised in Anaesthesia and Critical Care. Daniel is the medical lead for Follow-Up of patients surviving Intensive Care.

Daniel chaired the Association of North Western Intensive Care Units www.anwicu.org.uk and is involved in the undergraduate clinical skills curriculum, currently holding an honorary lecturer post at Manchester University.
