Hilary Grocott

Hilary P. Grocott, MD, FRCPC is a Professor in the Departments of Anesthesia and Surgery at the University of Manitoba. Having competed medical school at the University of Saskatchewan in 1990, and a residency in Anesthesia at the University of Manitoba in 1995, he went on to complete 3 years of fellowship and research training in Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina where he later joined the faculty and was appointed Professor (with tenure) in 2006.

In 2007, he relocated to the University of Manitoba, but continues to hold the position of Adjunct Professor of Anesthesiology at Duke University. His research interests largely relate to the cerebral sequelae of cardiac surgery, where he has performed extensive experimental work in his laboratory. More recently, he has focused on clinical neuroprotection studies, as well as studies related to bleeding, inflammation, and perioperative genomics.

He has published more than 250 peer-reviewed papers, abstracts, and book chapters in the field of anesthesiology and cardiac surgery.
